From Library Journal:

While not as expressly "Southern" as his prose (including the recently acclaimed Kate Vaiden, LJ 6/1/86), Price's second book of poems explores the same themes of love, family, and religion and employs the same precise and fairly formal language. In addition, these poems are informed by an intense awareness of death, brought about by the author's recent bout with cancer, and a concomitant devotion to a life force at once phallic and spirituala "convex love," as Price terms it in "Ambrosia." His strongest work often takes the form of longish autobiographical narratives ("A Heaven for Elizabeth Rodwell, My Mother") or dramatic monologues ("A Tomb for Will Price"), which allow his novelistic skills to come into play. For larger collections of contemporary poetry. Lawrence Rungren, Bedford Free P.L., Mass.
