Allen Brown is presently Reader in History at the University of London, King's College. A Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Society of Antiquaries, his publications include "English Castles" (1962) and "History of the King's Works" (1963), written with H. M. Colvin and A. J. Taylor. He is author of numerous articles in historical journals, as well as of several medieval texts prepared for the Pipe Roll Society.
