About the Author

In addition to writing essays and short stories, Daphne Simpkins also writes the adventures of Mildred Budge, a series of books about a church lady of the South. Titles include: Mildred Budge in Embankment, Mildred Budge in Cloverdale, and Miss Budge in Love. What Al Left Behind is a follow-up to The Long Good Night, and reflects her changed attitudes about being a caregiver of someone with dementia. This theme is one she is also exploring fictionally in the next Mildred Budge novel, The Bride's Room. While primarily a writer, Daphne teaches English as an adjunct for Auburn University Montgomery and is a member of the speakers bureau for the Alabama Humanities Foundation.
