A white-painted bicycle leans, locked to a post a few feet away from the spot where a car struck and killed a bicyclist. Flowers decorate the abandoned bike, a visible reminder that life is fragile. This is a Ghost Bike, one of over 500 such memorials chained to fences, streetlights, and signposts across the United States. Genea Barnes discovered Ghost Bikes while shooting in New York in May 2010, and has traveled to over 50 cities searching for and photographing them. The book is divided into 2 sections. The first, the journal of Barnes' travels while searching Ghost Bikes, including small photographs that document who the bike was for, and where it was located. The next section includes images that were created from the photographs that Barnes took. The book is hard cover, 148 pages, and measures 10.25in x 10.25in x 0.75in (thick).
