9780692534694: Behind Closed Doors

"Sometimes the strongest among us are the ones who cry behind closed doors, smile through silent pain, and fight battles that are obscured by shame."

For Sierra, Alex and Latrice, the innocence of childhood was lost at an early age. Choosing significantly different paths, they struggle to deal with the psychological effects of abuse. The three are eventually driven apart and they transition into womanhood carrying a secret that would influence their lives and threaten to destroy their family. Through a series of unlikely circumstances, the three are reunited. The meeting would ultimately set the stage for atonement.

Review:

This heartfelt story grabbed my attention & kept it occupied until the end. Behind Closed Doors had a well written detailed storyline as the content examined an unfortunate traumatic situation. I thought A.L. Smith provided pertinent background information to better understand Sierra, Latrice & Alex & how they dealt with issues in their adult lives. Great read & cover color scheme that I highly recommend all! --Dee Cherry Behind Closed Doors is a fresh view of the fallout from childhood sexual abuse. The characters, Alex, Sierra, and Latrice's individual stories are detailed in a diary-like concept to allow the reader to understand their perspective lives. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next.--A'Mera Frieman, Bestselling Author of the Victoria's Journey series
