**Note: 100% of proceeds from this book go to ministry in Rwanda.** God specializes in our limitations and disabilities. One of war-torn Uganda’s most most deadly snakes, a puff adder, bit 8-year-old Canisius Gacura with its large hypodermic needle-like fangs. “Wishes rarely came true, but I wished with all my heart the cows hadn’t given birth that day. That the weather had been fine. That I’d stayed in the village. That I didn’t meet the snake.” Eighty miles from the nearest hospital by bicycle, Canisius suffered bleeding, swelling and gangrene for three agonizing weeks before receiving medical care for his maggot-infested wound. Then measles brought Canisius near death. And finally, a severe case of polio left him a pain-riddled cripple in a country unfamiliar with care for the disabled. The real miracle behind the impossible. From misery to mobility to ministry. Enduring severe pain, intense discrimination, and constant thoughts of suicide, Gacura’s severe disability forced him to crawl everywhere for more than 14 years. To protect his legs and feet from the ravages of rocks and thorns, he donned a ripped pair of rubber boots to crawl to church, to school and to college. God conquers the impossible through perseverance and radical forgiveness. Despite his limitations, Gacura became a pastor, ministering in the most staunch Muslim area of the city of Kigali during the tense, harrowing years following the Rwandan genocide. Pastor Gacura’s pain-filled life enabled him to connect with individuals devastated by the 1994 genocide, bringing unity and forgiveness between those who once slaughtered each other. Canisius Gacura knows more than most about conquering on his knees through prayer. Discover how God specializes in our limitations.
