Boy was puzzled by the officer's questions. Why was the cop looking at HIM? Someone had stripped the priest naked, and hanged him upside down inside the manger scene...strung him up with Christmas lights and chicken wire too. Then...they sliced him...again and again. Who could have done such a thing? Boy had learned to become strong out of necessity. He pondered the paradox of how his heart weighed so heavy, and yet, felt as though it had a large crater right through its center. He thought about how, at the fledgling age of seven years, he had already learned to refine his ability to con people...just to survive in a world that did not want him. And, how he had already recognized the benefits of vendetta too...tasting the sweet absolution that accompanies revenge. Later, as he matured, he understood that these skills would be the foundation of his soul. He would hone his talents in a way that people would come to respect him and...even fear him. Too bad...he just wanted to be a nice guy; and find someone, anyone, who could care about him. And maybe, with a little luck, he might even discover someone to love him...just a wee bit.
