This memoir and travelogue chronicles one man’s search for direction and meaning of his life. George W. Harris, DC, walks, drives, and hitchhikes his way among many different cultures and faiths in an effort to find a spiritual direction. He generously shares his trials and tribulations to help others with their own journeys.
Harris grew up in the Greek Orthodox church and spent time in a Baptist congregation. As a child, he had absolute faith in the existence of God, but he became more and more disengaged with the church as he left high school.
As he searches for a faith community where he can belong, a new passion emerges in Harris’s life: travel. It is out on the open road that he truly confronts his anxieties about the ultimate issues of life. Along the way, Harris ponders his relationships and the search to find a companion for his life’s journey. His adventures lay bare the superficiality of his dating life and help him understand what he is looking for in a partner.
Will Harris find the truth he’s seeking? Will he find his soul mate? Hop in the passenger seat of his 1971 Volkswagen van to find out. It’s a beautiful day for a road trip!
