She lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. From School Library Journal:
PreS-Gr 2-Two offerings from the author of Once Upon a Potty (HarperCollins, 1999). In the first title, Joshua's mother explains the reasons for using clothing and then presents a brief history of apparel, beginning with cavemen wearing furs and ending with the top hats that men sported 100 years ago. Then she asks readers about her son's clothing: "Does he wear feathers?" A funny picture shows the boy covered in fluffy white down. A bird is featured on the next page, along with the explanation, "No! The bird wears feathers." Eventually, Joshua's real clothes are shown, and he is praised for his ability to dress himself. The final part of the book describes the different outfits worn by people all over the world, and the text uses the outdated term "Eskimos." The soft, colorful illustrations are appealing and correspond well to the ideas presented on each page. In the second book, Prudence's mother tells about the child and her baby-sitter: they play together, take imaginary trips on a spaceship, make a paper airplane, and pretend to look for lost treasure. Soon, Prudence is tired and gets ready for bed. The illustrations in this title look more like cartoons. Frankel uses bolder colors and outlines everything with thick black lines. Both stories will serve as additional read-alouds.-Wendy S. Carroll, Montclair Cooperative School, NJ
