Reviews

Age 6 months-3 years. "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands." For the lapsitting audience, here's a first book of 10 playful rhymes that adults can chant with infants and toddlers as they point at the pictures together. The words of the traditional songs are illustrated with colorful cartoon pictures of toddlers and animals acting out the rhymes. For adults who don't remember the actions, instructions appear in italics ("Touch each body part as it is named." "Slowly lift thumb and fingers one at a time"). Part of the Harper Growing Tree series, this collection isn't nearly as large as Judy Hindley's Eyes, Nose, Fingers, and Toes (1999), but it's a good place to start. Hazel Rochman
