This is the classic work on caecilians (limbless, serpentine amphibians), that is long out-of-print and very scarce. When Edward Taylor wrote this work, he was considered the world's leading authority on this group. Modern caecilians and their closest fossil relatives are grouped as a clade, Apoda, within the larger group Gymnophiona (from Wiki). They inhabit the tropics of South and Central America, Africa, and southern Asia.
