On the same day Major-General Gerhardt disappears from Germany. Two months later Gerhardt reappears in England with a plot to kill Bormann, Hitler's deputy - an assassination that would collapse the German Home Front, bring the German Underground into the open and give the Allies an easier passage into the country. On October 14 1944 Commando Force 272 left for Germany - the October Plot was underway...
