From castles in the sand to castles on a cliff-top, the Welsh coast is as beautiful and dramatic as it is diverse. Photographer Peter Watson captures the visual delights of this twisting and endlessly varied coastline, starting at the northern tip the birdwatcher’s paradise along the Dee Estuary then heading west to the Isle of Anglesey, passing along the way the resorts of Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, and Llandudno. The Lleyn Peninsula then leads to the expansive stretch of coastline from Tremadog all the way down to Cardigan Bay, and then to the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the impressive Gower Peninsula. The coastal odyssey ends on a high note with an exploration of some of the beaches and bays that can be found hidden away between the bustling cities of Swansea and Cardiff.

Review:

As I page through the beautiful book I recognise a few of the scenes, old friends in a new light, but the staggering discovery is a world of so many landscapes on my doorstep that I was blind to. Dried up mudflats that look like tapestry or mosaic, images titled 'avenues of pebbles',' colourful coves', 'precious gemstone rock' and so on. I must look closer next time I'm out on the coast and see them for myself. www.walesonline.co.uk How does he do it? Photographer Peter Watson defies the meteorological facts of life to deliver Wales' marvellous coastline at its most inviting - and empty... Adds up to a near perfect photographic appreciation of Wales at its best. BBC Countryfile A very handsome and enjoyable book. Coast Admirers or practitioners of landscape photography are likely to find much to enjoy in Watson's colourful and scenic images. Amateur Photographer Watson's photographs certainly capture the coast's essential textures. Whets the appetite nicely for the opening of the All-Wales Coast Path next year. WALK magazine A diverse and enjoyable collection. Geographical I expected a visual treat. I was not disappointed... This is a collection of beautiful images and an ideal gift for all who love the Welsh coast. TGO: The Great Outdoors At the moment, my favourite book. Western Mail Series The images manage to capture both the chaos and serenity of the landscape - often so difficult to preserve in a photograph. This is a striking portrayal of the Welsh coastline, offering a truly unique beauty of an unspoiled corner of Britain. Outdoor Photography A lovely mix of the micro and the macro - from tranquil wave-washed boulderscapes and close-ups of rock textures through to brooding sunsets and big, coastal skies. It's a stunning lanscape and guaranteed to have you planning a big trip to Wales some time soon. Outdoors Magic
