This revised and updated version of Maynard's Modern Basketry from the Start (1973), incorporating her teaching notes, is a very utilitarian guide to basketry using traditional English materials and terminology. Emphasis is on techniques and problem-solving, with a section of step-by-step projects using cane and willow. Although the instructions are good, the British terminology and limited scope of materials make this a marginal selection for American libraries. It can only supplement American basketry books that cover a wider range of readily available materi als.
