Alan Gore was a senior partner in the architectural practice Gore, Gibberd & Saunders, specializing in the restoration of houses in Britain and France. Since 1977, he has organized and written two series for Thames Television - "The English Garden" and "The English House". Ann Gore worked as a fashion journalist on "Harper's Bazaar" and "Vanity Fair" and as fashion editor on "Women's Journal" and the "Sketch". She is the co-author of "Old English Villages".

About the Author
Alan Gore trained at the Architectural Association, London. From 1950 until 1977 he was a partner in the architectural practice of Gore, Gibbert and Saunders specializing in the restoration of houses in France and the UK. Ann Gore also trained at the Architectural Association. Since 1980 she has lectured extensively in America on English social history and the decorative arts.
