Willian J. Vincent is a professor and chair of the Kinesiology Department at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He has worked at the school for 36 years and has taught statistics and measurement theory for 30 of those years. In 1995 he received CSUN s Distinguished Teaching Award.
A member of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), Dr. Vincent was elected to serve as the Southwest District representative to the AAHPERD Board of Governors from 1993 to 1995. He is also a member and past president of the Southwest District AAHPERD, a member of the research consortium of AAHPERD, and a member of the southwest chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine. In 1988 he was named the Southwest District AAHPERD Scholar and was given the honor of presenting the keynote address at the 1989 Southwest District AAHPERD convention.
Dr. Vincent is the author of four books and more than 70 professional journal articles. Fifty-one of those articles appeared in referenced journals, including Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, the International Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Journal of Athletic Training. He received his doctorate in educational psychology in 1966 from the University of California, Los Angeles. He and his wife Diana have six grown children and live in Northridge, California. In his free time, Dr. Vincent enjoys camping, snow skiing, off-road motorcycle riding, gardening, and reading.Review:
