About the Author:

HELEN FROST is the author of "Keesha's House," a Michael L. Printz Honor Book, and "Spinning Through the Universe," as well as a book of poetry for adults and many nonfiction books for young readers. She lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Gail Saunders-Smith is an assistant education professor at Youngstown State University in Ohio. She is also an independent staff developer, writer, and editor. She presents nationally at conferences on literacy development and instruction and has written numerous articles, children's non-fiction books, and professional resources. Gail holds a B.S. and M.A. in Early Childhood Education from Kent State University and a M.S. in Administration and Supervision from Youngstown State University. She completed post-graduate work at The Ohio State University and earned a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from The University of Akron. Gail is a former classroom teacher, Reading Recovery Teacher Leader, and Reading/Language Arts K-12 Supervisor and Coordinator of State and Federal Programs for the Summit County ESC.

From School Library Journal:

PreSchool-Grade 1-Nine full-color photos of different children and nine short sentences (one per double-page spread) illustrate the specific emotion highlighted in each title. The bright, attractive format includes a table of contents, a page of definitions, a short list of other books on the subject and several suggested Internet sites. Although all of this seems to be a bit of overkill, the series is unique in providing such simple, basic tools to initiate discussion of feelings with very young children. It also provides beginning readers with a source they can read independently.
