From School Library Journal:
Grade 6 Up–Five essays offer proof of the existence of large apelike creatures around the world, while another five refute it. In an epilogue, readers are guided through the process of analyzing the arguments critically. Materials for further research include a fairly good selection of monographs, periodical articles, and three annotated Web sites. There are no illustrations, and with only a blurry still from Roger Patterson's Bigfoot film on the cover, readers must rely on written descriptions rather than judge possible evidence directly. One essay actually contends that Sasquatch are psychic beings that travel between dimensions at will. The final selection is the most convincing. A member of a 1951 expedition to the Himalayas casts doubt on the assumption that a Yeti made the photographed big footprints in the snow that amazed the Western world at the time. Laura Anne Gilman provides a supportive look into Yeti descriptions and proffered evidence as well as photographs of the evidence in Yeti, the Abominable Snowman (Rosen, 2002). There is no definitive work that proves or disproves the existence of these creatures, but the selections in Ape-Men contribute useful ammunition to both sides of the issue.–Ann G. Brouse, formerly at Steele Memorial Library, Elmira, NY
