Peter Helmberger was born in Perham, Minnesota. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. He has served on the faculties of Penn State University, the University of California-Berkeley, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Having written several award-winning books and articles, he was elected Fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association in 1992. Now a professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin, he lives in Madison with his wife Rose who humors him by admiring his roses and laughing at his comic short stories and novels. Freed at last from the classroom, Professor Helmberger has now succumbed uninhibitedly to a lifelong lust to write humorous fiction. The father of four children and the grandfather of six (still counting), he is presently at work on his second novel entitled ANTITRUST AND INFIDELITY.
