Ever watch a wild bear play in the water with a foam noodle , a rubber ducky, or sit in a tub way to small for its size? Backyard bears will make you smile! Backyard bears is a full color 100 photo journal of 53 pages . Through my photos and descriptions the reader can see how a Momma Black Bear teaches and raises her young for a year and a half. How the older cubs "yearlings" survive when she drives them away from her in May. Momma then begins a new life with the incoming spring/summer courtship season. The bears that I have photographed are not pets they are wild bears ....other than identification I gave them no names I never talked to them I just sat quietly in my blind and photographed it all.

I did not know what I was going to do with all the mounting photos I took. I do sell my photography that I print, mat, frame, number and sign each piece . I had learned so much more about bears that I never knew... the cubs do cry...and fight with each over silly things............just like humans do...If I put this in a book maybe I can reach out to others so they can have a better understanding of Black Bears..and not fear them so much . They are not just big dumb animals that knock over garbage pails.. They actually THINK!!! and have a lighter side. Blacks bears are more afraid of YOU then you are of them. Wave your arms to make yourself look bigger lower your voice and yell they will run away if they have not already... Or sit in a quiet place and watch them.About the Author:
I am a wildlife photographer I learned to develop film while in the 8th grade..and if you know what film is then you know I have been photographing nature for a awhile. It is my hope through photos and words I can give you something "new" to think about. Maybe walk a little slower when you take the path thru the woods........As a fly fisher it is our habit to look under rocks in the water to see what bug crawls there and what fly we can match it to ... to catch the trout that sits under a cutbank waiting for its next meal. It is with many years of wandering around in the woods, kayaking on calm waters, that I have gained quiet knowledge of where and when I might take my next photo.
