ea. vol: illus. by author. unpaged. (Storytime Bks.). CIP. Viking. 1986. PSm $4.95. PreSchool-K Rosy-cheeked preschoolers adorn the watercolor illustrations in these British imports about preschool problems. Just Like Archie revolves around the crisis of finding a suitable pet; Look at Me faces the eternal difficulty of a young child trying to fit in with an older sibling's play; Thank You, Henrietta lauds the always-helpful youngster. All of the themes are tried and true, but these titles offer no new insights or imaginative treatments. The child characters are generally flat, and the adult characters fare no better. Despite efforts to show the father figure doing household chores, the old stereotypes remainit's ``Mom's washing machine'' that breaks down and good old Dad who comes to the rescue. If you're looking for a series that touts the cleverness and competence of preschoolers, stick with the ``Max'' books (Dial) by Rosemary Wells. Nancy Menaldi-Scanlan, Wheeler School, Providence, R.I.
