About the Author
Carole Lexa Schaefer is the author of numerous books for children. The Copper Tin Cup, she says, "was inspired by my connections with my immigrant relatives through stories and songs - invisible heirlooms - to keep handing on." She lives in Seattle, Washington. Stan Fellows has been a professional painter for twenty years. The Copper Tin Cup, he says, "was charming from the first time I read it - and it held its charm through every rereading as I worked on the paintings." He lives with his wife and daughter in Iowa.

Although the cup seems to have been designed especially for him, Sammy knows it has had previous owners, beginning with his mother, Samantha Caroline, who used to drink lemonade from it.
