About the Author:
Simon James is the author and illustrator of a number of bestselling picture books. These include My Friend Whale, Sally and the Limpet, Dear Greenpeace, Leon and Bob, which was a Smarties Book Prize Silver Medal Winner, a series abou ta mischievous boy called Jake, and Little One Step. Jess and Grandad first appeared in Simon's picture book The Wild Woods, which was praised by The Guardian as "A breath of fresh air... Full of humour and vitality." Simon has also compiled and illustrated a collection of small poems, Days Like This. Simon says of his work, "I like to capture a large world and at the same time give the reader the sense of being drawn in to an intimate moment or place."
