Each spread features multiple layers of scenery that fold out to create a strong sense of depth, while side curtains reveal the text. Told in only six scenes, the story feels a bit rushed, particularly in its conclusion, which pairs images of a vibrant, living Snow White with text that initially describes her apparent death. But on each dimensional spread, Ray’s shimmering images will enchant children, who may want to move on from the story and use the book as a stage for their own imagined adventures.
