Burned over half his body during the Falklands War, Simon Weston tells a tough story to listen to. However, a felicitous combination of Weston's spirited, clever writing and Armstrong's lyric voice brings the listener ribald youthfulness, as well as suffering and determination. Immediate and intense, Armstrong becomes Weston's living presence. At the end when Weston's tone becomes somewhat preachy, Armstrong compels our attention, presenting the occasional platitudes with fervent goodwill. Weston tells a provocative story, and Armstrong reads it well. S.B.S. An AUDIOFILE Earphones Award winner (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
