The Seventeenth International Conference on the Physics of Electronic and Atomic Collisions was held in Brisbane, Australia, on 10-16 July 1991. This volume contains the invited papers presented at ICPEAC XVII by leading international researchers, including the opening lecture by R W Crompton on the early development of atomic collision physics in Australia. The proceedings are divided into a number of sections based on the various interactions, photoionization and detachment, clusters and exotic systems reflecting the broad scope of the conference. Seven papers were selected for inclusion in the hot topics section which concluded the conference. This volume is an exceptional reference work which provides an invaluable summary of the present state-of-the-art research. The book of abstracts of the contributed papers from ICPEAC XVII is also available from Adam Hilger, the book imprint of IOP Publishing.
