Bill Bolton introduces the key methods and maths of control engineering through examples and applications firmly grounded in practical engineering contexts -- ideal for students new to engineering studies.

This brand new textbook is designed for students seeking an introduction to the subject for Higher Nationals or pre-degree level course or a level one degree modules. Unlike the majority of control engineering texts this book does not assume prior knowledge of the key mathematical methods, which are introduced here in relevant engineering contexts. The essential modelling techniques are supported by descriptive text covering the engineering applications of control theory and the hardware involved - instrumentation equipment, programmable logic controllers.

Working through this student-centred text readers will be brought up to speed with the modelling of control systems using Laplace, and given a solid grounding of the pivotal role of control systems across the spectrum of modern engineering.
