PreSchool-Toddlers and their parents will enjoy sharing these photographs of more than 70 animals (baby and adult). A wide variety of species appears, both wild and domestic-pigs, dogs, kangaroos, crocodiles, birds, fish, insects, and even earthworms. Animals are grouped in nontraditional ways; sounds, different colors, spots, stripes, and unique features are included. Each page has from three to six clearly focused photographs arranged atop a grid of narrow, colored lines. These lines surround but do not contain the creatures. A tiger seems to walk right out of his square. In the most effective pictures, animals gaze into the camera as though they are looking into viewers' eyes. While not essential, this book would be an appropriate addition to collections for the very young.
