About the Author:
Natalie M Rosinsky is a Capstone Press author.
From School Library Journal:
Grade 4–8—While it is likely that each of these titles will attract a distinct audience, some of the information is repeated and applies to the writing craft in general. Both books make suggestions for selecting a topic, creating a positive work environment, editing, and submitting work for publication. Article writers will take away excellent advice on how to conduct an interview, develop powerful lead sentences, and adhere to the rule of objectivity while maintaining one's writer's voice. However, Gilbert merely mentions blogs and Web sites without balancing these journalistic avenues with traditional print counterparts. In some instances identical text is used. Both authors state: "Even famous writers sometimes get stuck for words and ideas. This is called writer's block." Repetition aside, there is much useful information provided. Students wishing to explore the graphic-novel format will benefit from clear explanations of how to portray heroes and villains, use dramatic dialogue, and create a story map. Excerpts from several popular graphic novels are included. Both books have full-color photos, graphics, and tinted text boxes on nearly every page. Solid selections for aspiring writers.—Gloria Koster, West School, New Canaan, CT
