9780759686885: Sophistry -- A Romantic Comedyż

The history of the Sophistry Movie began three years ago when I was gathering information at our family reunion to write a sequel to Roots because my relatives had traced their genealogy to Alex Haley's family tree. A guest at the family reunion asked if I were an author. I told her that I had written my dissertation, a book, to earn my Ph.D. She then asked me to write her story and said she was a preacher's wife. I accepted her request to write her story and gathered testimonies of other church members and students. I decided to collect research information on similar cases focusing on Sophistry, which means peers upholding wrongdoing of other peers. During this time Dylan Kliebold had upheld Eric Harris' killing of twelve students and one teacher and presidents, teachers, doctors, sport heroes, and lawyers were involved in similar sophistry cases. I realized that there was a dire need for Christianity, ethics, and morality in our society and schools, particularly since prayer and religion had been taken out of the schools. This year, however, the Ten Commandments have been reinstated in schools. Moreover, the terrorist situation we are facing here in the United States which involves over eighty countries could be resolved if peers would stop upholding wrongdoing of other peers. Furthermore, adults, children, and future generation students need to learn that, contrary to popular opinion that everything is relative, there is right and wrong behavior and that one's behavior or one's sin affects us all. I wrote the novel on a part-time basis, while teaching full-time during a two-year period. I completed the novel and self-published about 100 sample copies. Most of the copies I gave to family and friends and the rest were sold at the International Newsstand. I was invited to the Black Chamber of Commerce Black Writer's Exhibition. An agent at the Exhibition saw my book and told me that I should make it into a movie. During July, 2001, I had meetings with a member of t

About the Author:

I grew up in a small town of 7,500, finished high school at age sixteen, received a four-year scholarship, and finished undergraduate college at age twenty at A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina majoring in Business. I went on to finish my Master's Degree in Business at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Ph.D. in Higher Education and Health Administration at the University of Connecticut. I was the youngest and eighth child born to my beloved, deceased parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Lucy Hunter Oates. As a little girl, my mom and dad took me to family reunions. We have been having family reunions for almost 100 years in a small community 10 miles from the city where my great-grandfather gave the land for the church and school to be built. My cousin was the first teacher in the school and another cousin became the principal. Several famous people have roots in this community, namely, Floyd Patterson, former heavyweight boxing champion, Patricia Roberts Harris - first black female ambassador, Mel Watt, US Congressman, Dr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Webber, Dentist and Millionaires, and Bertie Oates Patterson who was 108 years old.It was at a family reunion that I decided to gather information to write a book about our families because I was told that we had family ties to Alex Haley and I wanted to write a sequal to Roots. While gathering materials for the book, a guest at the family reunion asked me to write her story. She was a preacher's wife. After hearing her story, I heard other stories of a sophistry encounter from a schoolteacher. I had heard of doctors upholding other doctors in wrongdoing but not preachers upholding other preachers in wrongdoing because they are supposed to be truthful and moral, I thought. Then there was the scandal in the President's office where the President was upheld in his wrongdoing in the Senate but not the House of Representatives by his peers, Dylan Kliebold upheld Eric Harris' mass murder in a high school, an
