A nostalgic trip back to the great drive-in restaurants of the 1950s and 60s.
Drive-ins from across the United States are featured in fascinating archival photography as well as new photos of still in-use restaurants. Illustrations include period advertising, memorabilia, juke boxes, great new photography, and historical shots. Witzel wrote the best-selling Gas Station Memories and The American Drive-In.

The idea for "Drive-In Deluxe" sizzled to life a short while after the publication of "The American Drive-In" (my first best-selling book about curb service dining). Since I had so many great photographs and so much cool memorabilia left over from the first project, I thought, why not do another book? I decided to focus this version on tasty images--full-color, saturated photographs depicting flamboyant carhops, favorite foods, amazing architecture, and what the future holds for roadside food. Check it out: I'm sure that even the hungriest fan of roadside food will pull out of the parking lot satisfied! From the Back Cover:
Travel back to the days when hot rods and cool customs filled the parking lots of neon-framed drive-ins. This full-color trip down Nostalgia Boulevard includes: Drive-In history and folklore, Carhops and curbside service, Drive-In collectibles and memorabilia, Fantastic architecture, How the hamburger conquered America.
