Ralph Sanders is one of the world's best-known farm tractor photographers and the author of the long-running DuPont Classic Farm Tractor calendar, which has a print run of 280,000. He was born and raised on a central Illinois farm near Stonington, where he grew up working some of the machines tractor collectors now seek. Over the years Ralph's agricultural photographic work has included assignments for Successful Farming, Deere and Co., Massey-Ferguson, Monsanto Ag, and many others. He and his wife Joanne have lived in West Des Moines, Iowa, for some 30 years. From Booklist:
Sanders' history of classic farm tractors ("gorgeous old machines") begins with a fully detailed chapter on tractor development, with emphasis on the mechanical high points in the evolution of this vastly important implement for cultivation. The introductory section is succeeded by separate chapters on specific tractor companies, providing in text and illustration (beautiful photographs of tractors that have been restored by collectors) a cogent history of each company. Sanders includes such companies as John Deere, International Harvester, and Massey-Ferguson. A wonderful public library purchase for technology collections. Brad Hooper
