The mammoth "Big Foot" truck, with its six-foot diameter tires, that dominates the opening double-page spread will pique youngsters' interest in what else lies between the book's oversize covers. Alex Pang's realistic artwork is attractively displayed with small color photographs of selected equipment at work, and expanded captions identify the machines, giving their dimensions, origins, and purpose. In addition to the monster trucks, the intriguing entries include the tunnel-boring machine used in constructing Europe's Channel Tunnel, the American Ohio class nuclear submarine, and the Peterbilt 900 rig of a long-haul truck.
