Cheryl Blackford is an award-winning, freelance technical communicator and usability specialist. She was born in England where she earned degrees in Geology and Education. Ms. Blackford taught in an English primary school for several years before immigrating to the US. After arriving in America, she earned a Masters Degree in Scientific and Technical Communication from the University of Minnesota. While working for MECC, she wrote scripts for the Oregon Trail© software simulation and an online guidebook for the Explore Yellowstone© game. Colombia for the Country Explorers series is Ms. Blackford's first non-fiction children's book. She is working on several fiction stories for children. Ms. Blackford shares a shady, woodland house in Minnesota with her husband and two cats.
