It’s hard to pick the perfect gift, and Esther the Gorilla’s choices seem all wrong at first. But it all gets sorted out when she invites her animal friends to a joyful Hanukkah party.

Based on a story I used to tell my own children, I wanted this to be a fun Hanukkah story but with subtle messages about empathy (Esther means well but forgets to think about what her friends would actually like) and that gathering with friends while enjoying traditional foods and games is way more important than the presents. I wrote this book with multiple readings in mind...the first time through, children won't realize how silly Esther's gift choices are. Upon subsequent readings (I hope there will be many!), they might giggle from the beginning, anticipating each recipient's reaction. I'm deliriously happy with the illustrator's work--each page is so detailed, with visual humor that adds to the fun. From the Back Cover:
