From the Back Cover:

In celebration of North Carolina's 400th birthday, Charles Kuralt collaborated with another of the state's famous sons, Loonis McGlohon, to produce this down-home, witty celebration of their native land. From Possomtrot to Frying Pan Shoals, Ava Gardner to Thomas Wolfe, this cultural tour of Tar heel country is Kuralt at his best - an uncanny eye for detail and an exquisite command of the language. In memory of Charles Kuralt, this new paperback edition of North Carolina is My Home features testimonials and remembrances from some of his closest friends, including Norman Corwin, Jan Karon, and Bill Friday. Charles Kuralt was born in Wilmington and brought up in Jacksonville, Steadman, Salisbury, Washington, and Charlotte, NC. Loonis McGlohon is an Ayden-born composer who lives with his family in Charlotte, NC.

From Library Journal:

North Carolina is best known for its tobacco, lumber, and textiles. In a fully illustrated volume, native son Kuralt reminisces about his home in prose and verse, describing the heritage, history, culture, folklore, and customs of North Carolina. Favorite sons and daughters and towns with charming names are recalled as only someone like Kuralt can do. The book grew out of an idea by Governor Jim Hunt to help commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of the colony at Roanoke Island. Kuralt wrote the words and McGlohon the music to "North Carolina Is My Home," a special song of celebration. There are over 80 photographs and illustrations. For public and academic libraries with popular reading collections. Boyd Childress, Auburn Univ. Lib., Ala.
