PreS. A story that focuses on the strong, unspoken bond siblings often share. The repetitive text, with its predictable answers, will be a comfort to toddlers and preschoolers, whether at home or in storytime. When Little Brother cries, shouts, or looks funny, who knows why? Big Brother. He is always there for his sibling?until the day the younger boy wants his truck. When Big Brother refuses to give it up, Little Brother sneaks away with it?only to return it later when the two boys have reversed roles and it is Big Brother who is upset, and Little Brother who knows why. The story is conveyed in neat, short sentences. Dale's tender drawings feature evocative facial expressions that illustrate the love between the youngsters. Little Brother's crystalline blue eyes are often locked adoringly on the older child in scenes that look like they came straight out of a family photo album. Even the endpapers evoke familiarity by using the same plaid pattern that is found on one child's pajamas.
