From the Author:

Having previously written two books on the history of the U-2, in 2004 I accepted the challenge to write a comprehensive history in time for the aircraft's 50th anniversary in 2005. Having already covered the first six years of the program in THE U-2 SPYPLANE (Schiffer Publishing, 2000), was a good start. That previous work is reproduced as the first ten chapters of 50 YEARS OF THE U-2. So if you only want to read about the early years, when the U-2 flew over the Soviet Union until Gary Powers was shot down in 1960, you don't need to buy 50 YEARS OF THE U-2. But as it turned out, I needed to write another 30 chapters, to tell the full 50-year history of this remarkable airplane. So this is a big book! But I promise you, it is the best and most comprehensive reference to the Dragon Lady, that you will find between two covers.
