Introduction Question: What do these three scenes have in common? *One teenager hides in a darkened room, gripping a laser pointer tightly. Several other teenagers carefully search for him or her with their flashlights.

*A group of teenagers work together to lift a heavy barbell.

*One teenager uses a remote control to "control" his or her friends.

Answer: All of the teenagers in these scenes are being impacted with important truths about God, Jesus and the Bible--through the use of object lessons!

The object lessons found in Faith Metaphors will help teenagers understand how it feels, smells, sounds, tastes, and looks to be a Christian by providing concrete, real- world connections to more abstract concepts. Each object lesson centers around one specific, easy-to-obtain object. Teenagers are encouraged to interact with the object and each other in creative, fun ways to bring them to "aha" moments in which they see true glimpses of God's power and glory in the mundane.

These lessons use objects such as credit card applications, a box of cereal, and even gerbils to help your teenagers understand more about God and his plans for their lives. Many of the object lessons include "FYI" boxes to provide helpful information as you plan and carry out these lessons.

In addition, each object lesson ends with a "Taking It Further" option, which provides valuable ideas and resources to turn the object lesson into a full-fledged lesson or lesson series.

The lessons are arranged in alphabetical order according to topic to make it easy for you to choose an experience for your teenagers. In addition, Faith Metaphors ends with a Scripture index to help you further.

So go ahead--choose an everyday object, and use Faith Metaphors to create an out-of-this-world experience your teenagers won't ever forget!
