Before discussing any of the applications in depth, Stephen Harris introduces all the standard tasks within Suite 8, including frequent tables that summarize which commands are required to perform a set of related tasks. For each task, the text describes exactly what steps to take and then provides detailed examples. For instance, the section on macros includes instructions on how to set up macros to create a custom bullet, to transpose two paragraphs, or to insert the inside address and greeting of a letter.
There are two particularly helpful sections in the appendices. The first helps you decipher which components to install and which to leave out. Installing the entire package requires more than 200 MB of disk space--figuring out what you really need can otherwise be extremely time-consuming and frustrating. The second helpful appendix offers a table laying out all possible ways to configure your interaction with the system, allowing you to tailor the way you truly use the programs.About the Author:
