Grade 1-3–Williams uses a question-and-answer format to offer basic information about the rain-forest canopy and introduce the work of one scientist who does research there. The use of exclamation points does not redeem a plodding text. An average-quality, color photo appears on each page, often superimposed on a repeated border photo of rain-forest vegetation. A list of additional resources and directions for a simple experiment related to epiphytes are included. This book seems aimed squarely at those required to write reports or fulfill a curriculum standard. It will serve as an adequate resource where demand warrants.–Kathy Piehl, Minnesota State University, Mankato
