Carol Gestwicki is an author that writes with the student in mind. Her style is in a manner which students can gain a firm understanding of concepts. The use of the relevant examples to further explain concepts gives the students more realistic perceptions. The use of the Ashley and Lawrence families throughout the text sets examples of families and how texts concepts apply to these two diverse families.
I am really hoping that we can use it starting in the fall. I am going to recommend this text because it offers information that matches the objectives of the course and it is a very reader friendly book.
...I really like the very complete focus on teacher/parent/school/child relationship building in this text.
With regards to children?s behavior, it goes beyond many of the texts that focus soley on classroom behavior management and/or child guidance. It does introduce and goes in-depth into important behavioral concepts and principles
Gestwicki?s book is nice for our online students because it covers topics in a depth that enables the student to comprehend the topic without the aid of the instructor.
