AVENGERS '68 SET #5
"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
The Avengers roared out of Britain like a spitfire, dazzling audiences worldwide with its electrifying blend of action, fantasy, and espionage. The final season saw series mainstay John Steed (Patrick Macnee) paired with his first "professional" partner, Tara King (Linda Thorson), a young Ministry agent with a soft spot for her distinguished mentor. Deadly mechanical critters, empty coffins, and manipulated murderers are the orders of the day in these rarely seen episodes that brought The Avengers to a close. Steed and King, of course, are more than up to their final challenges.
Episodes: Thingumajig: Archeologists excavating an old Norman church are dying under mysterious circumstances, and the vicar asks Steed to investigate. He finds something, but then must figure out what it is... Pandora: Linda Thorson's favorite episode sees Tara kidnapped and "transported" to 1915 as part of a bizarre scheme to wrangle a fortune out of a dying man. Requiem: Steed takes an important witness to a secret location. But the hit men who are after her target Tara in an incredibly complex plot to find out where their intended victim is. Take-Over: Criminals with a grand scheme to interrupt a peace conference make a fatal error when they start their operation by holding Steed's dear friends hostage. Who Was That Man I Saw You With?: While infiltrating a top-secret defense installation, Tara is framed by an enemy agent, and the consequence could be apocalyptic. My Wildest Dream: Executives of the Acme Precision Corporation are turning up dead, and Steed has had a front-row seat at their murders. Could he be next? Bizarre: Empty coffins, repeated deaths, and a villain with the unlikely moniker of Bagpipes Happychap highlight the final episode, which see Steed and Tara shot into space as the credits roll.
