In the "Words, Words, Words" episode Bear is reading the Woodland Valley Gazette and ponders how many wonderful words there are. Just then he's interrupted by Harry and Tutter. Tutter has been unintentionally hurting Harry's feelings by calling him "Big Beak". Bear explains how words can hurt someone's feelings. Next, Pip and Pop have forgotten the word "plug" and they must use other words to describe what they want. Words can help people communicate in many ways! Pip and Pop have fun using words to rhyme and Harry uses words to tell Tutter what he needs. In the "What's the Story" episode, it's the day of the Annual Woodland Valley Storytelling Festival, and this year, it's being held in...you guessed it! The Big Blue House! Everybody from the Valley's coming over for a day of yarn spinning. And, as they find out, there are a lot of different ways to tell a story.

Putting words together and forming stories are the themes of the two 24-minute episodes compiled here. In "Words, Words, Words," Bear quotes Shakespeare and reads a newspaper, while Tutter learns not to repeat words that upset Harry the Duck, who, in turn, learns to use words rather than noises to express his feelings. In the second episode, "What's the Story?" the ursine giant sings about storytelling in his improbably mellow voice before opening his doors for some community storytelling. The session gives Jeremiah the Tortoise, the oldest creature of Woodland Valley, a chance to pontificate, and Doc Hog tells the tale of how he became a doctor. The tape begins with a duet with Ray the Sun, includes musical visits with Shadow, and ends with a song with Luna the Moon. Ages 3 to 6 --Kimberly Heinrichs
