One of the best television shows for the toddler crowd, Jay Jay the Jet Plane proves, just as Toy Story did, that computer animation is hardly daunting when characters and stories are thoroughly engaging. Adventures in Learning gathers five short episodes, each featuring Jay Jay, the diminutive delivery plane with a (more or less) human face. "A Trip to Skylandia" finds the airborne hero doubting the existence of a castle in the clouds (as drawn by best friend Tuffy), until he's swept into Tuffy's imaginative vision. "Jay Jay's Butterfly Adventure" concerns loving efforts to find a winter home for a winged pal, and "Tuffy's Trip to Pangabula" features an exciting race to transport a tow truck across an ocean. While visually splendid, these tales are finally about the spirit of adventure, the virtue of persistence, and open minds. --Tom KeoghFrom the Back Cover:
A Trip To Skylandia
When Snuffy draws a picture of a castle floating in the sky, Jay Jay refuses to believe a place like that could ever exist. But when a tornado blows him straight up into the air, Jay Jay suddenly finds himself in just such a place! In "SkylandiaTM," Jay Jay meets a zany king who doesn't believe that anything could ever exist beneath the clouds. Thanks to a kind princess Jay Jay escapes and finds his way back to Tarrytown, where he realizes that he needs to be more open minded about Snuffy's sky drawings because you never know what's possible!
Jay Jay's Butterfly Adventure
Winter's approaching, and Jay Jay's worried about his friend, Breezy, the Butterfly. No one, not even Brenda Blue, can tell Jay Jay where butterflies go during the winter. But when the first chill hits Tarrytown, Jay Jay finds Breezy flying south. Curious, Jay Jay follows his friend over the mountains and into a beautiful, warm forest where the trees are covered with thousands and thousands of butterflies! Thanks to Breezy, Jay Jay learns an interesting lesson about the ingenious way nature takes care of itself.
Jay Jay and The Magic Books
Jay Jay's disappointed when rain forces Big Jake to call off their trip together. To help cheer him up, Tracy tells Jay Jay that she knows a place where adventures abound and weather is never an issue! Intrigued, Jay Jay follows her to the Tarrytown Public Library, where Tracy explains books can "magically" transport you to a new place and time, just by using your imagination. Jay Jay's not quite sure he believes what Tracy is saying, but he soon discovers that she's right. Just by using his imagination, books can take him on all kinds of adventures he's never even dreamed of!
Tuffy's Trip To Pangabula
Tuffy's heard Jay Jay and the gang tell lots of stories about all the fun they've had in PangabulaTM. But since Tuffy's a tow truck, she figures there's no way she'll ever be able to visit the remote tropical island and see the amazing Sparkleberry TreeTM. That is until Snuffy remembers a time when Revvin' Evan used a hot air balloon to "fly." When Snuffy helps Tuffy use her own hot air balloon to make it to Pangabula, the two friends learn that anything is possible when they work together!
Tuffy's Adventure In Pangabula
After her exciting air-voyage to Pangabula, Tuffy wants to join the planes and help out around the island. But with no roads and nothing to tow, Tuffy feels pretty useless. That is, until a hurricane suddenly strikes! When powerful gusts of wind threaten to rip the Sparkleberry Tree right out of the ground, Tuffy saves the day by using her hook and towline to secure the famous tree! In the end, Tuffy learns that everyone has a special talent; sometimes you just have to wait to put it to use.
