Legs and buns can be a problem area for even the most avid exercisers, but there may be hope yet. In Denise Austin - Hit the Spot: Thighs, a concentrated workout directs all energy to this particular "problem area" by working the major muscles of the thigh and bottom. Austin gives great information about fitness and the necessity for combining aerobic and strength training for optimal results. While spot reducing is not possible, Austin is quick to point out the benefits of spot training. Inner and outer thighs, hamstrings, quadriceps, and all gluteus muscles are worked throughout the three sessions presented in this half-hour video. Each 10-minute set incorporates resistance exercises that are done isometrically, and no weights are used. Occasionally a folded towel or pillow will be held between the knees or ankles to utilize the hip adductors (or inner thighs) and promote proper form. These exercises are very basic and most participants will have an existing familiarity with these movements. Beginners should find this program approachable and easy to follow, while more advanced participants may want to add leg or hand weights for increased intensity. A few essential cues are missing in regards to knee alignment during lunges and squats, but overall this layout is very safety conscious while promoting total bootie beauty. --Olivia Voigts
