Reviews

PreSchool-Grade 1. A series of mini sermons, these stories begin with a thematic Bible verse and end with a couple of questions or a brief prayer. The same multicultural characters keep reappearing. They include: a mean neighbor and his mean dog; a girl in a wheelchair; a lisping thumb-sucker; a teenage boy who disapproves of wasting time watching television and prefers Bible-reading; a nasty boy; Firefighter Fritz; and a preschool teacher who specializes in Bible stories. Correct, caring, thankful Christian behavior is stressed throughout, yet the children cruelly hit and tease the dog. There is nothing very original here, either in the text or in the black-and-white cartoons. The book is limited to religious school and church libraries and home use for parents looking for short, simple, easy-to-read object lessons.?Patricia Pearl Dole, formerly at First Presbyterian School, Martinsville, VA
