This story was inspired by the death of a youngster at a local group home for troubled children. In an homage to Dean Koontz, I cobbled together bits of science, mystery, and horror to form a compelling plot for my young characters and the adults whose motivations range from zealotry to self-sacrifice. I hope you enjoy it.
