SUSAN ALBERS MOHRMAN is a senior research scientist at theCenter for Effective Organizations (CEO) at the University ofSouthern California. She has written numerous articles forprofessional journals and is the coauthor of nine books, includingDesigning Team-Based Organizations (1995) and CreatingHigh Performance Organizations (1995), both published byJossey-Bass.
JAY R. GALBRAITH is professor of management at theInternational Institute for Management Development in Lausanne,Switzerland. He is currently on leave from the University ofSouthern California, where he holds joint appointments as professorof management and organization in the Graduate School of Businessand senior research scientist at the Center for EffectiveOrganizations.
EDWARD E. LAWLER III is founding director of theUniversity of Southern California's Center for EffectiveOrganizations, where he is professor of management and organizationin the Marshall School of Business. He is the author oftwenty-seven books, including From the Ground Up (1996) andStrategic Pay (1990), both from Jossey-Bass.
