The format is very good for young girls. Each devotion has a simple title, a key Bible verse (good ones to memorize too!), a short reflection on how it could apply in a young girl's life, and then a couple more suggested Bible readings. The author Greta Rey does such a fantastic job of putting important ideas and lessons into a very few words, and speaking to her audience with sensitivity, understanding and love. Her topics are far ranging, like the thoughts and needs of the girls she writes for. There are devotions about God using ordinary people (for the little girls who feel very ordinary) as well as extraordinary people (guidance for the little achievers to avoid pride); devotions about how God can use girls' spiritual strengths (tenderness, compassion and tact were cited), and also gentle advice on some weaknesses to watch out for (gossip and "let's top this" competitiveness); how to receive a compliment with grace (Thank You!); how to think about boys, as young girls are starting to notice them.
